Introduction
The specialty of Pain Medicine or Algology is a discipline within the field of medicine that is concerned with the prevention of pain, and the evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of persons in pain.
The aim of the Pain Medicine Observation Program:
- To learn the classification of acute or chronic pain and their mechanisms
- To evaluate the patient with pain
- To acquire detailed information about acute and chronic pain treatment
- To comprehend the importance of psychological and psychosocial assessment in pain management
- To learn the RFT (radiofrequency thermocoagulation) implementation to headache, neck pain, shoulder pain, arm pain, back pain, hip pain, knee pain
- To acquire knowledge about trigger point injection indications and implementation
- Learn to implementation of transforaminal and epidural steroid injections
- Learn to practice ozone therapy
- To acquire knowledge about using of splanchnic, superior hypogastric, impar ganglion blocks in cancer pain
- To learn practice epidural analgesia in painless delivery
- To learn epidural blood patch application in postspinal headache
- To the implementation of Spinal Cord Stimulator
Goals of the program:
- Find a solution for all possible complications which may occur during pain medicine implementation
- Improve effective communication skills with the patients, their relatives, other medical specialists
- Adopt an attitude to respect the patients’ rights and maintain ethical standards of conduct during diagnostics, treatment and post-treatment period
- Gain skills in effective medical record-keeping, making a point of patients’ confidentially and ethical standards of conduct
